Return to Medium Wrecks

Vickers Wellington by Ben Alder

In August 07 I headed off to the Ben Alder area with a long cycle in to Culra Bothy, the intention to do five Munros over two days and also visit a wreck I'd been meaning to examine for some time. After a quite exciting climb up the Lancet Edge followed by three Munros to the west of Ben Alder I finally came across the wreck on the Bealach Dubh. Not too much left of the wreck and I was half tempted to put it in Small Wrecks had I not found a large piece in a burn down from the main wreckage area. I believe at the time of the crash most of the debris was removed by pack animals. The crash happened in Dec 1942.

A large piece my eagle eyes spotted in a burn well down from the main wreckage area.

Myself at the main crash site not too much left really.
